TwinTable is a natural departure into functional sculpture for the painter Richard Roth whose abstract canvases appear minimalist but are actually object-based abstractions. Roth approaches form in painting as geometrical constructs and uses thick, box-like canvases to give his paintings a substantial, three-dimensional form. TwinTable not only looks like one of Roth’s paintings come to life, but provides the artist an opportunity to fully integrate form and function.
TwinTable is a minimalist end table created by joining two identical laser-cut steel units with nine simple bolts. Connecting flanges on the underside give this table its strength, allowing it to be quite stable yet elegantly thin.
