He worked extensively on his carpet and decided to use a yarn made from the Nepalese allo (nettle) plant, known for its rugged beauty and natural variations in color, to achieve the desired effects in the background. The colored squares, made of New Zealand wool, pop off the surface in a beautiful way.

His paintings and drawings reflect on specific places and experiences–from the deeply symbolic to the notational—translating sensations and memories into abstract compositions. To date, Nozkowski’s paintings have been featured in more than 300 museum and gallery exhibitions worldwide, including over 80 solo shows.

We offer limited edition rugs by some of the most compelling contemporary artists working today. Each artist is intimately involved in the translation from artwork to rug. Made of wool and silk, the rugs are hand-knotted by highly-skilled artisans in Nepal using the traditional cross-weaving technique. Many carpets today are made with uncrossed weaving which is cheaper, faster to produce, and less durable.

The mill’s carbon footprint is extremely low.
