OBJECT DESCRIPTION
Donald Judd’s furniture is some of the most recognizable and significant artist-designed furniture in existence. Originally designed for use in his own homes in New York and Marfa, the furniture was made by the same techniques and materials used in his larger body of work. There are two kinds of Judd furniture -- vintage or not-vintage. Vintage pieces created during his lifetime can still be found at auction or on the secondary market. They are significantly more expensive than those pieces created since his death in 1994 under the direction of the furniture arm of his estate, Judd Furniture.
The pieces we sell are brand new and produced under the direction of Judd Furniture. The metal pieces are fabricated by Lehni in Switzerland which is the original factory that made Judd's metal wall boxes. All metal pieces come in 21 stunning colors and solid copper. The wood pieces are fabricated in California by one of the collaborators Judd worked with in his lifetime. Wood materials include a large variety of plywood, pine and hardwoods.
A stamp issued by Judd Furniture is impressed on the underside of all pieces to authenticate the work. The B-vB reference number that is both part of this stamp and used to reference the title of each design refers to the catalogue for the exhibition "Donald Judd, Furniture Retrospective" at Museum Boymans-van Beuningen in Rotterdam, April 4 – June 20, 1993.
Judd Furniture is produced and distributed worldwide exclusively by Judd Furniture and Judd Foundation on behalf of its clients.

TwinTable
designed 2006 / fabricated now
powder coated steel
20 h. x 17 x 17 inches
OBJECT DESCRIPTION
TwinTable is a natural departure into functional sculpture for the painter Richard Roth whose abstract canvases appear minimalist but are actually object-based abstractions. Roth approaches form in painting as geometrical constructs and uses thick, box-like canvases to give his paintings a substantial, three-dimensional form. TwinTable not only looks like one of Roth’s paintings come to life, but provides the artist an opportunity to fully integrate form and function.
TwinTable is a minimalist end table created by joining two identical laser-cut steel units with nine simple bolts. Connecting flanges on the underside give this table its strength, allowing it to be quite stable yet elegantly thin.

OBJECT DESCRIPTION
Max Bill was the first director of the Ulm Design Stool which was the successor to the Bauhaus in postwar Germany. With his colleague Hans Gugelot, Bill designed this stool for use in the school and it was made by the students in wood shop. It is both light and robust and very multi-functional. It can be used as a stool, end table, side table, put side-by-side for a coffee table, or stacked as bookshelves.
"Beauty of function" and "beauty as function" were two important themes to Max Bill (1908-1994), especially evident in this collection of furniture characterized by clarity of design, simplicity, logic and economical use of materials. Max Bill studied at the Bauhaus in 1927-28 under the tutelage of Albers, Moholy-Nagy, Klee and Kandinsky. His interest in industrial design grew with the economic boom after the war, and in the importance of the appearance of things, an influence which came from the impressive talent from America. This collection is produced by WB Form, the distributor arm of the furniture store Wohnbedarf for which Max Bill designed most of these pieces. Made in Germany and Switzerland.
