Walter Robinson has been called a "neo-Pop" painter and is a member of the 1980s "Picture Generation.” His psychedelic "Tumultuous Heart" carpet is based on a series of spin-art paintings he executed in 1985. His original spin-art paintings were done with One-Step sign painter’s enamel -- a brilliantly hued, high-gloss set of colors using a jerry-rigged machine assembled from a Canal Street electric motor and pulley set horizontally in a bin made of wood lathe and plastic sheeting.

In 2016, Robinson had a retrospective at The Jeffrey Deitch Gallery in New York City and he has had solo exhibitions at Vito Schnabel Gallery, St. Moritz, Switzerland, Galerie Sébastien Bertrand, Geneva, Switzerland and Inna Art Space, Huangzhou, China

We offer limited edition rugs by some of the most compelling contemporary artists working today. Each artist is intimately involved in the translation from artwork to rug. Made of wool and silk, the rugs are hand-knotted by highly-skilled artisans in Nepal using the traditional cross-weaving technique. Many carpets today are made with uncrossed weaving which is cheaper, faster to produce, and less durable.

The mill’s carbon footprint is extremely low. It does not employ any heavy machinery and uses electricity generated via hydro (not coal, not diesel, not nuclear), as well as solar panels and windmills. No harsh chemicals are used when the rugs are washed.

Each rug contains GoodWeave certified label. This insures that no child labor was used in the production of our rugs. GoodWeave conducts unannounced random inspections of the factory and makes sure all adult weavers are paid fair wages. Their overall mission is to end child labor in the carpet industry and to offer educational opportunities to children in South Asia.
