Sol LeWitt’s Coffee Table is one of the most historically significant examples of artist-designed furniture of the 20th century and relates both conceptually and visually to the artist’s body of work.

The history of Coffee Table began in 1965 when LeWitt made his very first table by painting a white-lined grid on a painted grey, wooden top. Fifteen years later for a multiples exhibition at Marion Goodman Gallery, and as a “follow-up” to the 1965 example, LeWitt made the white-painted poplar Coffee table with an open grid pattern and a 3/8" glass top. The black walnut version was introduced soon thereafter.

Artware Editions works directly with The Estate of Sol LeWitt and is pleased to offer both variations of this table fabricated by the same exceptional craftsperson who worked with the artist during his celebrated lifetime.

Coffee Table is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by the artist’s estate. All tables are considered a custom order and fabricated upon receipt of payment. Please allow 6 – 8 weeks for the white table, and 8 – 10 weeks for the black walnut.
