These skateboard decks come ready to hang with mounting hardware and are part of a limited edition of 100. The decks feature an image from Louise Bourgeois', Ode À Ma Mére (1995)
The spider motif is something that can be seen multiple times through out Louise Bourgeois' work. From a young age she worked alongside her mother at her family's tapestry restoration business. Her mother, Joséphine, was an especially skilled weaver and spent much of her time reweaving textiles that were seemingly beyond repair. Much like a spider, Joséphine, had the ability to create something beautiful and intricate from very little. Bourgeois went on to learn many of these same skills, and thus the spider is not only representative of her experience with textiles, but pays homage to her and her mother's relationship.

Femme Maison Skateboard Deck after Louise BourgeoisRegular price $175.00
Femme Maison Skateboard Deck after Louise Bourgeois
This skateboard deck comes ready to hang with mounting hardware and is part of a limited edition of 100. The image is a detail from a series of paintings entitled Femme Maison (1946) by Louise Bourgeois. The title Femme Maison roughly translates to "housewife" as this series serves as a critique of the gendered restraints placed upon women at the time. These paintings feature the bodies of naked women with houses as heads to emphasize how these domestic roles occupied a space that was familiar yet entrapping. These paintings became especially iconic during the second wave feminist movement of the 1960s.

This skateboard deck comes ready to hang with mounting hardware and instructions and is part of a limited edition of 500. The top print features a printed signature.
‘Women Are Heroes’ is a project launched by JR to tell the stories of those who are often the first to be harmed in situations of conflict: women. By revealing the unspoken grief of these unsung heroes, JR explores the commonalities that exist in their gaze, and ultimately seeks to discover what unifies us all is humanity. Despite the harshness they have endured, he exposes the light and hope that still exists within them.
When the project launched, JR promised to share their stories with the world – a promise he has since kept, and that we are grateful to continue through the release of these editions.

Warhol's Flower series was a departure from his usual representation of brands which he was making at the time. The series is based on a photograph of hibiscus blossoms that he found in a magazine titled Modern Photography. According to art critic David Bourdon, Warhol’s vibrant manipulation of colors produces a floating effect in his flowers, “like cut-out gouaches by Matisse set adrift on Monet’s lily pond.” It is also said that the series gave rise to the expression “flower power”, against the backdrop of the massive non-violence movement during the 1960’s.Our partners at The Skateroom, who collaborated with The Andy Warhol Foundation and SF MoMA to make this edition, donate a significant part of their profit to support social initiatives that make the world a better place. For each edition sold, $180 will be donated to support Skateistan, a non-profit that uses skateboarding and education for youth empowerment in Afghanistan, Cambodia and South Africa. This amount is the equivalent of learning supplies for their Skate and Create programs worldwide for one week (including art supplies and basic skate supplies).
