John Chamberlain designed this salad bowl with six buffet plates in 1996. Made of white porcelain and hand decorated with copper, silver, and gold trim, each of the pieces is based on a different machine part: the salad bowl was cast from a transmission cover and the plates are based on flywheels. Chamberlain never made the conscious distinction between art and design, and this edition is further evidence of this belief.
Each piece bears a stamp with the artist’s signature and production information and is hand-etched with the edition number.
