Endless City is based on several photographs Brian Alfred took while traveling through Japan by train in the summer of 2015. It was initiated as a large-scale painting and then recreated as a digital drawing. Alfred renders a dense, panoramic cityscape using flattened planes of color that at once capture both the specificity and anonymity of an urban environment.
