    Peter Eudenbach's Chimera

Courrier International is weekly French magazine that translates and publishes excerpts of articles from over 900 international newspapers. The December issue of the Courrier International shows, Peter Eudenbach's "Chimera". "Chimera is a unique gift that appeals to everyone by transforming one of the most familiar objects of the season into a witty, unexpected holiday decoration. The title refers to the mythological or biological fusion of two forms but the object itself is symbolic of more far-reaching notions. In anticipation of the winter solstice, rebirth is in the wings and Chimera can be seen as an egg ready to hatch. Perhaps the greatest inadvertent reference is to Meret Oppenheim's Traccia bird table that is one of the most historically significant examples of an artist fusing two forms - one biological, the other material - to create a third, other entity."-Artware Editions website.

    Noam Rappaport's Lamp

Here at ArtReview we believe that the experience of art is not something that should be limited to more-or-less dusty museums or the warehouses of supercollectors. Art is something that can play a vital role in inspiring a richer, more profound, understanding of human experience, culture and society today. With that in mind, this publication takes an overview of artworks issued in series and designed to be collected and enjoyed by a wide audience. Art Review has showcased Artware Editions, Noam Rappaport's Lamp I, 2009. The lamp is constructed out of canvas stretcher bars from which the light device is hung. It's a simple yet minimalistic gesture, found in Rappaport's work.

"A novel way of making ceramics- this multi-coloured vase draws its remarkable shape from an ordinary plastic bottle. German artist Markus Linnenbrink uses the containers as molds: slowly layering epoxy resin around a central cylinder. "I love how casting the bottles draws attention to their original design, which often goes unappreciated," says Linnenbrink. Each layer takes about a day to set, meaning this vase took approximately two weeks..the vases range in price from $300 to $1500.
